Everytime I create a new site, they require me to write something about me to introduce me to the viewing public. Well, at that exact moment I never remember where or what I have on my "standard" bio so I write one on the fly.
=)
I'm going to post 'em here. These biographies were all written by me about me. Maybe with them all together, you will gain more insight into who I am.
Please note: These are not *all* of the biographies that I've written and posted online. These are the ones that I have found and gathered for this post.
Here goes...
well, i rediscovered my sewing machine in the summer of 2008 but i really started getting creative with my sewing in the spring of 2009 because i now sew without a pattern.
i have an idea of what i want the final result to be but sometimes i take detours to get to the final destination. i'll start working on one project and get side-tracked with something new, complete it and then go back to the first one with "new eyes" and complete it and go on to the next thing. i get in ruts. i'll sew a ton of pillows and then stop. sew a bunch of totes and then stop. sew tshirt totes out of the wazoo (cleaning out my closet) and then stop - fearing that i won't have any left to wear.
i've learned that my sewing machine is a tool much like a paintbrush... it helps me craft the image in my head.
i really like the pieces i create and so sometimes i'll carry one of my bags for a while before i list it. yes, i wash it. i throw it in the washer/dryer and hand press it (not with an iron) and put a price tag on it. i'll detail that in the listing when i do that.
the point is... i really like the stuff i make and they are well-crafted though the seams show - yeah, you'll see more than a few - and no two are the same (i don't prefer patterns).
99.9% of the bags are lined because i like 'em that way. i've learned that i adore an interior AND exterior pocket on bags so, i try to remember to put at least 2 pockets in each one. though sometimes i forget and don't add a single one.
i also try to add a tag to every single bag/pillow/tote... whether it is a piece of ribbon (vintage or new) or a piece of fabric that i've turned into a tag - something that i learned from my mom when she was making my daughter clothes back in the day. (when she was a toddler... she is now 13yo)
i blog about the stuff i make at http://newusesforoldclothes.org
i blog more at http://absolutelynogum.tumblr.com about life and what-not... ;)

an introduction to the girl behind newusesforoldclothes
Back in April of 2009, I decided on a name for this venture. So, I bought the .com and .org and proceeded to set-up both an Etsy account and a blogspot web address. I tried out Artfire. Maybe I didn't give it enough time or it wasn't a good fit for me. Prior to opening up shop here on 1000 Markets, I looked around a bit. I liked that it required more effort before opening up my store though there were moments that that very fact bugged me.
The only reason that I might remove a listing before it sells is if I sell the item IRL (in real life).
Anyway...
My schedule? You know, I do have one. Sometimes. =) I am a mostly stay-at-home-mom to a teenage daughter. I babysit for a friend's 3yo and 6mo on Mondays and Tuesdays. On Wednesdays, I usually run errands and try to fit in sewing. On Thursdays, I try to sew the whole darn day away. On Fridays, I try to repeat Thursday. On the weekends, I spend time with my family. If they are doing something without me, I'm usually sewing while watching NCIS or CMT videos.
On Twitter, I'm @refinnej so, find me and say "hi"

feel equally at home in front of a computer or at my sewing machine.
creating websites using html can keep me occupied for hours on end. the sewing machine i'm using right now doesn't do reverse.
a mom. only 22 years 5 months 15 days separate us in age, so more like sisters than mother/daughter. virtually grew up together and we're not done yet.
in love with the most amazing man. lol... and i can hear him now... "Gag. Dork." btw, we met on e-harmony.

My name is Jennifer and I live in Central Texas. I am a mom. I am an artist. And so much more. I began creating flower pens nearly four years ago as part of a school fundraiser. I enjoy creating a tangible expression of beauty - something that can be appreciated for how pretty it is as well as be extremely functional.
I enjoy a good challenge. If you have an idea for a pen and you want me to make it, send me an email.
I will do my best to create a super fabulous special creation just for you.
